About Me:

My name is Steve Suranie and I am the founder of MartianTribe, a technical communications consulting firm. I've built and led teams providing software development and technical communication services for healthcare publishing, medical device manufacturing, the pharmaceutical industry, finanical tech, ad tech, and government services.

With over twenty-five years of experience as a technical writer, developer, and graphic designer I bring a Systems Thinking and solutions-focused philosophy to a company’s technical communications strategy and overall goals. By streamlining information flow, improving knowledge base management, and helping enterprises transform into learning organizations, I look to implement processes that increase revenue, reduce costs, improve productivity, and assist with customer acquisition and retention.

⦿ Created and published final cybersecurity incident reports in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Safety Review Board.

⦿ Ensured all documentation met Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) standards and complied with Section 508 regulations.

⦿ Enhanced the existing knowledge base and content creation processes to provide uniformity to the documentation, reduce redundancy, expose knowledge gaps, improve search and retrieval, and implement a knowledge base auditing process to ensure the documentation is relevant and up-to-date.

⦿ Implemented a new knowledge base platform that integrates with other content management systems such as Confluence, Google Drive, and Zendesk.

⦿ Replaced the existing incident reporting process that increased the clarity and focus of the reported incidents, reducing the closure time on tickets for tech ops and providing a feedback process to the product and engineering teams to find actionable material within the incidents reported.

⦿ Created a culture of writing amongst the engineering staff to ensure knowledge was captured in a structured and concise format.

⦿ Implemented an onboarding and training process that reduced the time needed to ramp up new engineering and data scientists and enabled them to be productive within a shorter period in their roles.

⦿ Collaborated on pre-sales support with the Technical Marketing team.

⦿ Created implementation and integration guides for alpha clients such as Disney and AMC.

⦿ Supported Product and DevOps teams by creating and maintaining various product documentation including API documentation, platform user guides, SDK documentation, and a comprehensive data science guide. All work was created in Oxygen and Documentum.

⦿ Implemented strategies to assist in achieving corporate goals, particularly in sales and support areas.

⦿ Developed KPIs and measurement strategies to ensure departmental goals aligned with corporate objectives.

⦿ Created scripts and desktop applications to improve documentation workflow.
